WhatsApp is already testing a lot of new features in beta with its users. The company recently rolled out a lock chat feature to select beta testers and now, as per WABetaInfo report, it has started rolling out a new feature to its users. The instant messaging platform has started testing improvements to the Communities feature. To be specific, WhatsApp is making it easier for users to manage communities on the app.
WhatsApp communities navigation is rolling out in beta
The latest beta update on Android carrying version 2.23.9.16 includes easier navigation for communities in the Chats tab. The feature is currently available to select beta users and we expect the company to expand it to more users in coming months.
The report also includes some screenshots of the feature in action and as per the snapshots posted, WhatsApp is planning to integrate Communities right within the Chats tab. The screenshot shots a Communuties subsection within the Chats tab that has a drop down menu and reveals the sub-groups within the communities.
This will make it easier for users to interact with the communities and also find a group easily on the app.
It is important to note that the feature is currently rolling out to select beta users on WhatsApp for Android and it is not clear whether WhatsApp will implement this feature in the stable version of the app. However, before that we expect some similar changes to the iOS version of the app as well.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has rolled out multi-device support for up to 4 devices and it now lets users sync multiple phones with the same WhatsApp account.
